Sally Ride was born on May 26, 1651 in Los Angles,California. She later became the first American women to go into space. Because of this she recieved honors like the NASA space flight medal, and NCAA's Theodore Roosevelt award. She servedas a mission specialist on a space shuttle flight. She was planned to be on a third trip but there was an accident. She also sereved on the presidential commision which investagated the explotion of a space shuttle. Other than an astonaut she is an educator and a physicist. She became the director of the california space institute, and a professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego. She also started her own company that creates educational programs. Sally Ride is important because women are no longer afraid to do what men do.
